I hate to ask a question before doing my homework but I haven't had time to
research the engines yet. What is the difference between an automotive VW
engine and an Aircraft VW engine? It say's he doesn't do "aircraft" but is
there any reason why a guy couldn't just buy a kit, build the engine and

I have never fooled with knock sensors. I did read up on them several years
ago. What struck me was the assertion that a knock sensor from one model of
engine can't be expected to work properly on a different engine. It was like
they had to change

little more than a crystal microphone. It picks up noise and turns it into an

This kind of depends on the engine you are using. It is my understanding
that the reason you don't see them on "certified" engines is because of
the vibration that is inherent in those engine
