Hi All, After finishing the retracts/ actuator, I moved on to the rudder peddle
mounts. They had been partially installed with reg. hardware grade bolts. As I
was removing the bolts/nuts, I noticed that one side of the shelf that the
rudder peddles mount to was loose. Upon further investigation

It was a defect in the weld along the 90 degree seam between the floor
of the tank and the rearmost wall.
Once found it was easy to see that while all the rest of the tank was
welded very nicely, along the bead on this edge in only this one spot,
there was a tiny deviation in the placement

materials such as glass, aluminum and steel, get brittle in cold weather;
it's a matter of what temperature and degree of brittleness. (The steel

I'm pretty sure a lot of people have been using them sucessfully, and there
are some in KRs as well. Are you expecting some sort of problem with them?

I have used that stuff on repairs of hot gas lines on Carrier A/C units.( older
models use aluminum tubs for the condenser) They have a working pressure of
anything from 150 psi to 425 psi. I have not had to go back on one yet and 5
units I still take care of.

The American Welding Society (AWS) has local chapters all over the country
(Similar structure to EAA Chapters). They work to promote welding from the
welding operator to the design metallurgist. Check out aws.org for local
