Curiosity here!! Doesn't both of these systems, pvc pipe and vinyl fence
posts, get brittle with cold weather?? With even minor flexing in the wing
structure it seems the possibility of cracking could become a factor.
I would tend to lean toward using aluminum tubing rather than any plastic of
John,
However you cut into the old tanks and stick them back together, make sure
there are no pockets left to gather water other than at the quick drain.
You may want to change the dimensions of the tanks to limit fore and aft
movement of the fuel so you don't get CG changes with pitch changes.
ahh the Astro Hog. Ugly, but I heard it flies great

Oily wood...
I was once gifted an RC airplane, called an astro hog. This astro hog
had years and years of flight time on it.
It was very well constructed, but after years of flying, the wood at the
firewall, foredeck and bottom was soaked through with caster and
synthetic oils from the model
I find that lacquer thinner works quite well on almost anything like that.

I will have to get back with you on that, but I think it is a million
liability per something. I have had a couple of questions about it, so I
will find my policy and post the particulars.

I would get some grease and fingerprint remover the Panel Shops ( Autoshops)

I have a son who did the same thing with my wood from some old VW parts
(good source for engine though) but it was on wood I hadn't used so I tossed
into the firewood pile. Not sure about on an aircraft.

Reno,
I have seen several hold, cancelled, not assigned statuses on the FAA site in
the past. They don't do a great job keeping the site updated when changes are
taking place with an N number. Call the registration branch and ask what the
real deal with the number is.

I added wing tanks in the stubs of my first KR. and did the bottom similar to
what you are describing.
Started with the plane upside down. Cut big rectangle out from rear spar to
forward spar and put sides and front and back in the area with foam. I made a
lip on what was to be the tank botto

I ran across this report on structural adhesives this morning. Just a casual
reading showed promise, particularly when discussing the results of the
