I am curious as to why you want to cut the bottom out of the tank? If I had to
make a decision there, I would cut the top off if I was going to cut one or the
other off. Your plane is sitting upright most of the time I would presume, so
it makes more sense to me if you are going to cove

Lining/repairing the wing tanks.
I did this to my KR2, though mine leaked due to an accident. Sorry not
photos of the work, I'm camera shy.
Here are a couple of points to ponder:
- Use vinyl ester resin
- Old tank surfaces must be ground with a grinder to ensure a good bond.
