Hi,
in the new version the notice can not longer be used to sent a password
and the lettercode was changed to WELCOME. Check if you have a WELCOME
notice defined. It will also be sent through the message_queue now, so
you can check for entries in the table as well.
Hope this helps,
Katrin

Hello,
The library I'm trying to convert to Koha (Dewey) sometimes uses a shelving
sequence number after the cutter (usually a year). Where would this number go
in the MARC21 record? Would it just be part of 082$b or would it go in another
field?
Thanks, David

Thanks Katrin!
I dont understand why in Administration-Koha-to-MARC mappings we see the
following already set in the system:
biblio.biblionumber 774 w Record control number
biblio.biblionumber 999 c Koha biblionumber
Field 774 w should not be there

Okay, so best practice would be to put it all into 082$b something like "Sch56c
1953"? Will Koha automatically then copy the 082$a and 082$b fields into 952$o
or do I have to populate 952$o before I migrate the data?

If you have mapped 082$ab to 952$o then it will go automatically

My experience is that if you're adding items one-by-one the call number will be
in the "New Item" screen. If you're uploading a batch of records with 952s, it
won't. You can copy the call number to the 952o with MarcEdit's Swap Field
Utility.

Yes, that's been my experience practicing on demo installations too. When
uploading batches of MARC records the data does not appear to copy
automatically to 952o even if MARC mapping is set.

I'm in charge of converting our small church library (about 6,000 items) from a
manual system to a computerized one; volunteered actually. I've got koha
installed and have worked through most of the implementation checklist.

How are your data stored now? Catalog cards? Ledger? Spreadsheet? A colleague
and I are doing a presentation on CSV to MARC at next month's KohaCon, so if
you're using a spreadsheet you're in luck. If you're using paper records, what
kind of data are you collecting?

There isn't even a card catalog. Just the checkout cards. There is a binder
with a list of all books with an ascension number.
The library started 30 years ago with boxes of books that were shared before
there was a room for it, before the church had a permanent location. We have

You will need some computer literate people to help. I cataloged my
personal collection of about 6000 books with some help from my sisters.
It's now over 10,000 books.
