Bob's right, you should use Koha 3.6, or at the very least Koha 3.4.5.
These versions separate the items from the biblios, you could migrate the
values from the Excel document right into the items table in the Koha

The current Koha version we're running is 3.04.04. The data is originally
from version 2.xx. So if I understood correcly, the Koha still has 952
field, but it's hidden in later versions? I think I'll need to have a look
at marcedit and hopefully I'll be able to modify the 952 so that the 3.04.04

I've just tried to import a couple of batches of items but they haven't
imported.
I've created MARC records with MarcEdit. I staged them for import.
I looked for existing records based on ISBN (020$a) and Ignore incoming
record if matching biblio found).

I believe that there is currently no way to delete a vendor using the client
interface (there might be a way using SQL, but I wouldn't know how to do it).
The list of vendors here is my amateurish stab at it:
