You need to "convert" your exported doc to mark format before importing it.
You can use the free tool markedit to do the mappings between your excel
file and a mark file to import.

We just built a KOHA server and would like to import our other Library
manager data.
We are currently using one called "Handy Library Manager" made by "Primasoft"
We exported the data from that system and it is just a excel file

I found a reference to this in a 2010 email. The scenario described, a library
needing to retain their current control numbers as biblionumbers to continue
connecting to outside databases, is the same thing we need to do.
