Did you use any specific setup?
My macbook doesn’t do what you describe.
I use a 15” Macbook pro with retina display (2014) that I keep updated.
I loaded Sierra, but still have separate windows for project, eeschema, pcbnew.
I hope some expert on Apple stuff can explain the difference.
