For the quiet and non-quiet problem, since there is no difference between 1st

problem. Probably, we can do another test:
don't plug the headphone in poweroff state,

Look like this is an issue of graphic driver (amdgpu).
Please do a test:
add nomodeset in the boot parameter from grub, then boot the system. Make sure
the X11 is working in framebuffer mode. (lsmod | grep amdgpu; make sure the
amdgpu is not loaded).
Then test if it still hang randomly.

Probably the FreeBSD is working as Windows, they use the software de-

Please test with "pactl load-module module-echo-cancel", then choose
echo-cancelled record device from gnome-sound-setting->input tab. Now

my patches yet, you can have a try https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-

Since James pointed out a solution, let us test if this workaround can
fix the noise of headphone on your machine?
After you heard the noise from headphone, run "sudo hda-verb
/dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1d SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL 0x0" in the terminal. Then
can you still hear the noise?
