An easy way to identify whether the machine has this problem is:
booting to gnome environment, pressing ALT+CTRL+F1 to enter text console,
executing showkey, closing lid, waiting several seconds, opening the lid,
if following logs are produced, your machine will have this problem.

ALSA: hda - restore the gpio led after resume
On some HP laptops, the mute led is controlled by codec gpio.
When some machine resume
To solve this problem, we need to add a udev keyboard rule.

Is this really fixed on Ububuntu 14.04 LTS?
I've just tested triggering a crash dump and it didn't work. A Google
search pointed me to this bug. When I see /boot on a separate partition,
I just realized it is the damn case! Others like dbgsym kernel from
