I had just done a power and BIOS reset to fix a battery problem --
disconnected the battery and the CMOS battery, and held down buttons to
reset the power configuration and BIOS. (Not sure I would recommend
this, but it worked!)
Booting back into Ubuntu, I had this problem. T
Same problem on an X1c7. Let me know if I can provide any more info. I
hope this is fixed soon, I'm not sure how much longer my ears will last
listening to tinny sound at high volume.

After seeing Alex's post, I tried installing 410.104-0ubuntu0~18.10.1 from
ppa:graphics-drivers.
Using 4.18.0-16-generic kernel.
I find that when I use Intel profile, powertop reports the nvidia card as 0%
active, and the setting in Tunables shows up as Good.
However, /proc/acpi/bbswitch reports
I just confirmed the patch in proposed works in bionic
(4.18.0-17-generic). Testing cosmic next.

Just to confirm that we installed the right proposed version of the kernel as
this doesn't have any steps to reproduce. It only reproduces randomly after a
certain amount of time.
These are the steps we followed to install

As Marius mentioned we already deployed this patch on several instances and now
we are monitoring them to see if this still happens. At least 2 of them were
affected by the bug before patching so we had to reboot them.
If the above information (previous post) is correct and considering the time
I'm on Kubuntu and it was also affected by this issue after installing
the latest updates although for me it was Super+Arrow keys that change
VT (rather than Alt+KEY as described in the issue). As mentioned,
running: `sudo kbd_mode -s` resolved it.

Hanging keys on Thinkpa
I can confirm that installing nvidia-390 through the Ubuntu driver dialog, and
then using nvidia-settings or prime-select to set intel keeps the nvidia card
on for me on my GeForce 840M laptop.
I can also confirm Installing bbswitch-dkms and turning it off through bbswitch
works.

I've tried around a bit and found out that now, the problem occurred
also in 16.04. Not sure if I just didn't try enough before or if the
problems really wasn't there in 16.04 two months ago.
However, I've got the problem solved now. I updated the BIOS and the firmware
using Lenovo system update
And yet another X1 Carbon 5th gen running 4.18.0-10-generic and Ubuntu
18.10 issue present. One of #16, #43 and #63 helps to mitigate the
problem. Thanks a lot to all the contributors!

Am able to see "xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead" pretty
much regularly during suspend/resume.

regular thermal shutdowns on Manjaro 20.2. They occur mainly during

Hi,
I bought the Thinkbook 15IIL some days ago, although I read, that I would have
trouble with the touchpad.
I adapted Ferenc's post #66 for Manjaro (Arch) and it's working like a charm.
You don't need to change that much. Just install all packages with pacman -S
cpio iasl

Same issue on Lenovo P51 with TPM 2.0. Booting from daily (20190922)
with TPM enabled works. Installing Ubuntu from this live medium and
booting crashes with TPM init. Disabling TPM let the System boot. Kernel

My USB Keyboard consistently turns off as soon as the boot process gets
past the GRUB menu. The system then hangs - indefinitely, unless I plug
the keyboard in again.
This behaviour was present in Beta 2 and manifests itself in the
official release - freshly installed - both
I have tested 4.14 rc6, rc5 and rc1; all three cause the system to hang
during boot, printing the following warnings:

Thank your for assistance but the problem is now fixed. I turns out I
had to flash my BIOS to the very last update available (F9 beta).
