I can tell you've never actually tried FLASH_KERNEL_SKIP, as it doesn't
work in an early debian-install (di) environment.

The only one working for me (JUMPER10x.P8.WP313P.NhNAUHL02) at least a
bit is 4.14.0-997-generic #201711172100 for the moment. Touchpad moves

Per request in #30, I installed version 4.10. Everything seems to be
working just fine now. First Kernel outside of 4.4.72 that has worked
for me.

I noticed today that my touchpad toggle button is not working (in
Artful). I'm not sure if I correctly tested it because it doesn't show
in comment #41.
When I press the key I get:

Perhaps also worth mentioning that the zoom in / zoom out keys don't
seem to generate a named event:

Hmm, no problems related to it in that log, i915 would be more verbose.
I just noticed the trace in the subject was caused by a lid close/open
and is most likely not related. It would be worth trying this out to
rule out the Intel X driver, save this as /etc/X11/xorg.conf

I have had this problem for awhile. It got worse when I upgraded from
14.04 to 16.04. I haven't tried all the workarounds above yet.

I am pretty sure I didn't do any mistake but the key is still not
working. I will also attach an animation to show how volume mute
produces a notification, and volume down/up as well. Just the mic
doesn't trigger a notification, nor does it actually mute the mic
(checked in the sound preferences).
Here is the animation. In the last seconds I am pressing the mic mute
button but nothing happens.

I am having the same issues even with the newer Kernel,
4.4.0-79-generic.
Like others have mentioned above, I can mess with the settings and
sometimes "it gets it" and other times it just causes the whole machine
to lock up and I have to force reboot it. Even when the monitors do

Tried another path:
- Installed on a spare HDD using VMware in Windows (assigned full disk to
VMware), no additional drivers or anything changed
- Updated kernel to 4.11rc1 (using prebuild binaries)
- Updated grub parameters: acpi=off quiet loglevel=3
- Rebooted computer with that
Cosmin, when you say you installed 16.04, do you mean Ubuntu Studio
16.04 or the standard distribution?
Did you install the OS from scratch using an USB stick of some other
media? You were trying to do an update to 17.04 so did 16.04 boot
initially correctly? Please provide details, just saying it

I can see a couple of differences that I need to look into:
- Chipset is different B350 vs. X370
- I attempted the fresh 16.04 install from a USB stick instead of a DVD (I've
got no optical drive at all, so can't test that) -> IRQ TRAP (same with

Not usable really now as the nvidia driver installation is failing but
much better...
So clearly the code around PINCTRL_AMD seems to be related.

i allready tested
linux-image-4.5.0-994-generic_4.5.0-994. ... amd64.deb , two days ago
from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-nightly/current/
until there is no diff patch which really relates to the problem a
recent new test makes no sense at all.

Thank you Seth for taking a close look at the problem and my proposed
fix. As mentioned on the mailing list my test runs fine now with the two
fixes.
However, I prefer your fix as it prevents us from running into this
issue again. Our test system is happily installing VMs for two hours now
using y

Update: Due a lot of testing, my best speculate is, that the Thinkpad pro dock
90 w acts as MST-DP Hub ( Display Port 1.2 Hub )
After Docking the Kernel renames DP Ports, this is needed in use with real DP
1.2 Displays. But from then ( docked in ) the resume code in DRM is not longer
working (
