I made the switch to 19.10 and the problem is the same in the logs.
There is a slight difference however, the screen doesn't flicker any
more upon the change request. I suppose it now detects the adjusted
modeline is the same as the current one, hence nothing to do.

I've just tested this again after upgrading to kernel 5.0.0-31 - the
problem is still here. Sound device goes into "powersave" after 6 to 7
seconds without sound output, which is audible on non-grounded speakers
as a buzzing noise. As in my comment #29, turning off the power

Intel GPU
I have a Lenovo G50-80 and the same Problem with the Bios. It was Ubuntu
17.10 and Win 10 installed. After I erased the Harddisk kompletly, I

I discovered a way to cause this instantly, I attempted to change the
size of the ring buffers from 512 bytes to the hardware maximum of 4096
using: ethtool -G eno1 rx 4096 tx 4096, it instantly hung the interface
with the following in dmesg:

This kernel did make it so I could not reproduce it on demand using
ethtool -G however it broke so many other things I could not leave it running
to see if it fixed spontaneous hangs.
Strangely it broke nfs-kernel-server on the i7-6850k machine but not the
i7-6700k machine. I did much stare

4.14.0 final crashed hard after running 17 hours. Not only was the
ethernet not-responsive, neither was the console, not even the magic
sys-req key. I had to power cycle the machine to get it unhung. Then

I met this bug #1783810 when I was verify my Ubuntu Core 18 image on KVM.
The system stuck at resizing the writable partition. the resize script of
initrd called sgdisk to achieve the resiz

After creating a bcache cache device with an 8k block size (see
#1662407), a kernel oops happens every time device is probed.
I'm not sure that there is any userspace bug present in #1662407 at all
- it may just be kernel. I've attached a dmesg there, but can't actually
