I just want to add that I have the same problem on my Asus N552VW. I
have managed to make it work from day 1, so hopefully this can help
someone until the proper bug fix is provided.
I have a laptop and an external monitor plugged via HDMI, everything is

@Ferenc: even if it didn't work in my case, thank you for helping us

Also, please note that there is no acpidump in Arch. So these commands
should be used instead to decompile and recompile the acpi tables
-Extract the tables cat /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/DSDT > dsdt.dat`
-Decompile: `iasl -d dsdt.dat`
-Recompile: `iasl -tc dsdt.dsl`

My ubuntu box is frozen and there is nothing I can do (i.e. the keyboard is not
working).
Why the kernel is not killing or pausing the processe(s) that are draining the
resources? On my Mac it always stops them and ask to kill it or keep running.

Using Cascardo's kernel fixes the problem for me.
It was a bit of a hassle to install though because there's no linux-

Here's where to find it:

Indeed, today the system worked fine (no freezing) the whole day after
rolling back to kernel 3.19 first thing in the morning, while yesterday
afternoon with the 4.2 kernel my laptop froze at least 4 times.

Hi Christopher,
Thank you for your answer. I did update today from BIOS and I will try
the 4.2 kernel again, just not today because I had more than enough and
unexpected "excitement" for a day with updating the BIOS from Linux...
However, like I said before, when I updated the bios, I just used t
I installed again the 4.2 kernel yesterday after lunch and it happened
again at 16:52:02. You can see the kernel messages at that time in

It looks so far that the laptop freezes less frequent than before the

after the system performed the logout. After starting, here is what I
see in the syslog:
I cannot go to upgrade to that daily image because this is the company's
