Confirmed, 4.4.0-119-generic #143 does not solve this problem, still a
hard freeze during boot. Adding "noibpb" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX= in
/etc/default/grub allowed the machine to boot. Interestingly enough my
server is on VMware, so the problem exists there too

Yes, because the other board got bricked as I told due to the bios update.
I had to buy a new board because of that (no warranty).

I do not keep a log of that :-) But I think I only skipped 1 or at most 2
releases. So, 11.04 and 14.04 for sure.

I will check later this week when I have time.
You changed the summary. I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I
think something goes wrong during suspending and not from waking up from
suspension state.

What is your question? I can suspend/resume with this old computer with
this stick inserted but not in playing mode, but I can't install a newer

Mvg, Sander Devrieze.
2014-12
I can confirm the reboot issue is still not fixed in Ubuntu 14.04.
When rebooting the computer:
[6.921888] DiB0070: successfully identified
[6.947049] Registered IR keymap rc-dib0700-rc5
[6.947175] input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as
/devices/pci:00/:00:1a.0/usb1
Public bug reported:
I bought this device: http://www.sharkoon.com/?q=en/content/sata-
quickport-xt-usb30
The kernel knows the vendor, but not the product:
[49637.803017] usb 6-2: new SuperSpeed USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd
[49637.821238] usb 6-2: Parent hub missing LPM exit latency info.
I do not see what that kind of logs can help here. The only things you
need are:
idVendor=174c
idProduct=55aa
name of device=Sharkoon Quickport XT USB3

Unfortunately, this fix breaks Dell XPS 9550 with Samsung PM951 drives.
I now get a hung system due to the Samsung controller getting reset.
Please see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195039 for a

This bug also affects my AR9271 internal USB wifi device.
I've tried kernel 3.12.0-031200-generic but this did not help using
vanilla settings.
I ended up using:
$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/cfg80211.conf
options ath9k_htc nohwcrypt=1
and set txpower to 12 at runtime to circumvent this problem.

I could not recover from this state. suspend did not work and I could
not disconnect using network manager.
