I have tested on a new laptop (acer c910 chromebook ) using Linux
Mint 17.3 (Rosa) XFCE 64 bits with kernel 3.19.0-32-generic X86_64 and
all OK.
This time Ipod was mounted using xhci_hcd.

The same problem if I try and old kernel 3.19.8-031908-generic X86_64
Maybe, the problem is the board, this is a Lenovo B50.

I found a temporary solution. If I insert a cheap usb hub (USB
2.0) then the Ipod is found and installed without problems.

This bug is very annoying. This problem still exists with every kernel and
pulse/pipe combination I'm capable of (tested also with a 6.0 kernel).
No workwaround works but suspend to disk.
