FYI: I have built a kernel with the previously (on this thread) discussed patch

However, the issue may involve or require changes to, Pipewire,

I suspect that the issue would need to be resolved at Kernel level.

I stumbled on this as I was messing around with my kernel. I noticed the
builds of 5.10.37+ all seem to link to the 5.11.0 builds:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.10.37/
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.10.38/
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.10.
It looks like 5.11.x branch has a couple like this as well:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.11.21/
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.11.22/

@arighi - will this fix go into disco soon? I have an OVS upload for a

OK I think I've figured it out; the cloud images use the -virtual
kernel, which does not install linux-modules-extra-*.
If I install the -generic kernel or just the extra modules and reboot,
then iptables commands start working again.
** Changed in: ufw (Ubuntu)

This might have some implications for fan usage on cloud instances as I
see some fan-* rules post switch to generic kernel.

Sorry I cannot run apport-collect as the machine has no GUI. I have
tried the command on the console and via ssh but the resulting text-mode
screen seems to prevent me entering my email address to log in.
I also tried apport-cli but it had the same problem with the same
authentication screen.
