Public bug reported:
Situation: linux-image-X-generic and linux-image-extra-X-generic are
both installed
When you remove linux-image-extra-X-generic (e.g. switching from -generic to

linux-image-extra-X-generic's postrm script.
This results into
No need for logs, it's easy to reproduce.

I have run into this issue when using the goofys s3 fuse filesystem
(https://github.com/kahing/goofys) on a t2.small instances when copying
large files (which causes many memory buffers to be allocated). I think
anything that stresses the memory subsystem will be able to trigger it.

Hello Ant,
I'm not quite sure what you mean?
I'm currently using Debian Jessie with Kernel 4.6.3, the problem is
still there. So it is not limited to Ubuntu... it probably also exists
in more recent releases like 16.04...

You received this bug notification becau
Tried to compile the driver (as per comment #25) under 3.10.9 kernel.
Results are as per comment #37, since the driver source uses
create_proc_entry(), that was deprecated in favor of proc_create()
After reverting to kernel 3.9.5, the compilation was successful , with
one warning:
[ecat@localhost
A small update: I managed to connect to my own hot-spot, apparently it was the
router problem, not the driver's.
I will try applying the patch under 3.10 kernel as well.

htt
Well, i'm writing this from 3.10 kernel, so patch has been successful,
apparently.
This is dmesg part after module is inserted:
[ 335.204398] lib80211: common routines for IEEE802.11 drivers
[ 335.204400] lib80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
[ 335.343901] cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update
Just as info, for me it works since 3.8.0-30 without UEFI. So, for me
it's actually fixed.

I'm sorry, I don't own this particular laptop any more. But seeing that
linux-kernel-bugs #15893 has been fixed a long time ago, and Ubuntu
10.04 with Linux 2.6.32 isn't supported anymore, I don't see why this
should be an issue any longer.

ult: same dmesg output, ends in kernel panic...
This is a vital problem so a fix needs to be found asap.
