I have a Thinkpad T520 and a W520, both with the same ethernet device,
Intel 82579LM.
Running under Windows, speedtest reports ~1Gb up & down, so the hardware
is good. Under Ubuntu 18.04, kernel 4.15.0-50, I get ~1Gb down but only
~4Mb (!) up.
e1000e is version 3.2.6-K and
* The Thinkpad T530 has the same intel network hardware. (And
correction, it gives me 1Gb down and ~ 0.5Gb up.)

@Andy - I do not get dropped into buysbox. I end up sitting at a
purpleish screen saying "Ubuntu" with the 4-dots cycling left to right
and a white font saying, “cryptsetup: evms_activate is not available".
In other words, it looks very much like a proper decrypt-prompt, but
with the wrong text.
Yes, moving the drive that was on the PCI-X controller to the main board
solved the problem. Does this mean that a driver disappeared between
the -60 and -64 kernels? Or is it that somehow the driver is just not
available on boot?
Any thoughts on how to correct this?

behave ok, so I left it overnight. When I came back in the AM, the

report, it killed all processes & logged me out. I was able to log back
in, and found that I have only succeeded in copying 375G.

on an encrypted raided pair of HD's.
