We are having the same bug (I believe) after upgrading from kernel
linux-image-4.4.0-178-generic to linux-image-4.4.0-184-generic.
We have around 100 VMs there are affected. For now, we have rolled back
to the previous kernel. I am not sure why but not all VMs are affected,
from what I have found,

That commit seems to be the cause of the error message. However I just
noticed that bluetooth is still working. I was confused because the
indicator icon was gone after 15.04. release upgrade but I was able to
start it manually and connection works although the error message is

I was hitting the bug with "4.10.0-19-generic #21-Ubuntu". With a
standard apt-get update and upgrade (no special kernel install) I am now

A workaround that seems to work for me (and one that doesn't involve
dropping caches periodically) is to downgrade udev to 219-7ubuntu6 (as
suggested by Øystein above). On 15.10 wily, add vivid-updates to your
apt sources to be downgrade to this version of udev.

Confirmed Nelson Elhage's workaround: copy /lib/udev/rules.d/40-vm-
hotadd.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/ and comment out line 2 and reboot.

Same for me. Sony vaio SVF1521KSNB with ubuntu 13.10 as well as 14.04.
