I have a real mce hardware problem and can't view it without such tools!
Is there an alternate to mcelog ?

Probably there is a problem with the "ext4: enable journal checksum
when metadata checksum feature enabled" patch.
Tytso wrote in bug LP: #1365874 that with Linux kernel 3.18 the metadata
checksum feature got some format changes.
Is this patch compatible with these changes?

I can confirm that trusty 14.04.2 LTS is affected. I have this problem
on my xubuntu 14.04.2. Latest avaialable rpm package version is
4.11.1-3ubuntu0.1.
