In the case of my Acer Aspire the issue was caused by incorrect settings
in the BIOS for touch pad legacy support.

I have a bad branch kernel installed 5.12.5-051205-generic I need to get
rid of it and change to kernel version 5.11.0-43-generic.
However, I have no WiFi hardware detected when booted into 5.11 kernel from
grub menu.
I can ONLY get my WiFi hardware to detect in kernel 5
