I have prepared a test kernel based on 5.4.0-42-generic, for Ubuntu 20.04 in

This is not a kernel problem. The problem is that the pigpio library is
trying to mmap the GPIOs with PROT_EXEC which is a security risk. In
Focal /dev is mounted with the noexec flag so that's no longer possible.
They could patch the pigpio library to remove the PROT_EXEC flag from
the mmap call b
IMHO kernel version 5.4.0-40 should be deleted with the highest prejudice.
Never before have I experienced 3 kernel panics in one day and a few after that.
This thing should have never left Canonical quality control for an LTS system.
And I have been running Ubuntu since the first release.
