I've tried everything mentioned thus far, and nothing seems to be working.
I have a setting in the BIOS where I can toggle between Basic/Advanced
Touchpad, but the BIOS settings are not saved for next boot. I read somewhere
else that setting it to Basic would fix it.

This fails on Xenial -> Artful. I've not yet tested Trusty, but I
suspect it's just a latent bug in the bcache driver.

Sorry, it doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. I installed the image,
extras, and both headers packages. No cloud or tools (they aren't
installed in our system usually).
