I don't understand why this is such an ongoing problem - isn't the XPS
13 ultrabook supposed to be the developer laptop? I thought the whole
point was to provide a seamless experience for developers - and others -
who want a Ubuntu ultrabook that's fully supported and 'just works'.
What's going on

Janos, the fact you are using Xubuntu doesn't change anything regarding
bisections. The reason Ubuntu Precise and Xubuntu Precise differ in
kernel versions is b/c the Ubuntu Kernel Team decided to backport the
Quantal enablement stack to Ubuntu Precise. Hence, as documented in

Joe Barnett, if Saucy won't boot, I would skip this for now. Did this

I notice that turbostat shows all cpus stuck at the minimum 800MHz (see
attached log) on my system, even after rebooting twice. I used "stress

load.
It looks like the system is using the acpi-cpufreq drive
If I switch to to 'turbomode' using the cpufreq-indicator, turbostat
shows the cpus still stuck at 800MHz:

Rebooting with intel_pstate=enable has fixed the issue and vastly
improved the responsiveness of this laptop.
