Public bug reported:
On this Vaio laptop, only the single USB 3.0 port work. Both USB 2.0
ports (that works fine on Windows 8) doesn't even create kernel events
under 12.04.3, kernel 3.5.0-39-generic x64.
The solution I used in #225 doesn't work anymore: it conflicts with
linux-firmware (1.79.5) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
firmware/1.79.6 when updating kernel 3.2.0-52-generic.
Uninstalling the DKMS drivers leaves the computer in a state with
wireless not working. Back to square one
Public bug reported:

All of the downstream distros, such as Mint, replace some user space
components. However, most of the foundation layer is left intact,
including the kernel.
For this particular but the problem appears to be in the bcmwl dkms
module and not actually in the kernel, so switch task to bcmwl.

This isn't a network-manager problem, so marking invalid there.
In this case I the microcode errors are a side effect of frequent
