Reporting after a long time, but the s2idle=deep does not really fix anything.
Just made it less frequent if at all. Since then I have upgraded to 20.04 and
the issue is there.
I have essentially given up on using any kind of power management on this
laptop under Ubuntu.

As said before, after switching to deep suspend it was working.

I did have Ubuntu 20.04 installed, but it did not bring any improvements

@Norbert
The "deep" mem_sleep approach works for me. I also downgraded to
vanialla 19.10 kernel before trying this. Not sure if it also works with
5.4 kernel. Will try this weekend.
Earlier I was making a mistake in writing "deep" into mem_sleep. Just
sudo echo deep > /sys/power/mem_sleep does no
@Kedar No, I only tried this with a vanila 19.10 kernel.
cat /sys/power/mem_sleep
s2idle [deep]
Do you mean you don't even get the s2idle option when you run the
command or was deep selected by default?
@Kai-Heng I will try 5.5 Kernel on the weekend and will get back to you.
BTW, how do you mak
Also tried with 5.3 kernel that shipped with 19.10 and I see only "deep"
in /sys/power/mem_sleep.

My laptop already has /sys/power/mem_sleep as "deep" and it still hangs when I

Norbert, did you have luck with "deep" with 5.4 or vanilla 19.10 kernel?

Sry, I kinda always forgot to update you guys.
The mainline kernel 5.4 did nothing for me as well. However, switching
to deep suspend as suggested by Iulian Blajut did work for me.
Maybe a potential workaround, until the real reason why s2idle does not
work is found, could be to enable deep suspe

I am experiencing the same issue with a clean minimal install of Ubuntu
19.10 on an Acer SF314-57
It seems the suspend mode defaults to s2idle which is causing the
problem. After switching to deep, suspend works correctly and the system
does not hang anymore.
The issue seems similar to what users

I uploaded an apport report as requested from the automatic mail.
However, the report was created before I tried to suspend the system,
