I have tried to update the Bios but have been unsuccessful. I have
contacted Acer support for help but they answered my email stating they
do not recommend I update and would give me no information as to how I
can update. I have downloaded the files from their site but am unable to
open them. I am
on running command "sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s
bios-release-date" I get following information:

to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.15). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?
If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened,
I have managed to run command "apport-collect 1499373" and authorised
application to access launchpad on my behalf.

I have an Acer Aspire laptop, I have just installed Ubuntu 15.04 and removed
Windows 10. The problem I have is that after I select shutdown the computer
goes through the shutdown procedure and screen goes blank

I have attempted to run the command "apport-collect 1499373" as requested but
the command does not run. when I press enter to run the command I receive
following message: "You need to run 'sodo apt-get install python-apport' for
apport-collect to work."
I have done this and then get the result:
