This is why I posted this bug, because nouveau doesn't work properly
with this nv28m chip and I wasn't warned nvidia-96 was going to be
removed when installing HWE Stack. So after heavy sweat I had to go back
with a working xorg, although cat /etc/issue still shows 12.04.5 and I
went back to 3.2 ke

the nvidia 96.x series driver supports xorg up to 1.10. As xorg-server-
lts-trusty is using xorg 1.15, it is incompatible with the nvidia
driver.
