Perhaps a clue: after the upgrade, I was also finding my wifi was a little flaky. Last week I disabled wifi and unloaded the ath5k drivers and other related drivers. The system has been up 10 days now, which is the longest uptime since this problem started. >From dmesg: ath5k: phy0: Atheros AR241
