Tim Passingham, while the Ubuntu project developers have de-emphasized
their focus on hibernate in favor of suspend, it doesn't mean it's not a
supported feature of Ubuntu, and in turn doesn't mean it's not supported
upstream either. However, this bug report is being closed due to your

May as well let this one go. I've been on a new PC, using 14.04, for
some time, and gave up on hibernation. I don't expect to test it again
- sorry.
My understanding is that, for some reason that I don't understand, it is
not encouraged in ubuntu.
