I tried to use both kernels in my Latitude 5440:
linux-image-6.8.0-51-generic
linux-image-6.11.0-1010-oem
Both have the flickering problem.
The option intel_iommu=igfx_off make the flickering less often but do not solve
the problem.
intel_idle.max_cstate=2 i915.enable_dc=0 make it worse.

Just crashed without having specific explanation about de issue. Also my
Ubuntu OS is crashing eventually with no reason. I have a dual boot in
my computer and I don't know if that's the problem.

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04

After following @juergh updates. I realized the problem was the nouveau
drivers, also I saw my fresh installation (Ubuntu 22.04.3) was not
detecting my RTX 3070. So I fixed both problems installing the drivers.

My workaround for removing the frozen pointer is going to displays in

complete the change, just revert back to the previous configuration.

Do I need to run apport-collect with the upstream 4.6 kernel?
I suspect this is a CPU or ACPI table parsing code issue because just
with acpi=ht the system is not usable.

Sorry for the delay, this was not my computer but Marta's one.
This computer was bought recently and installed directly with Ubuntu 16.04 in
dual boot with Windows.
So no previous kernel version was tested.
Even Ubuntu 16.04 CD install media needed kernel parameter acpi=off to boot.
I just tried

I assume you don't have a xps13 full HD as 3.8.0-30.44 makes the backlight
work in my xps13 full HD (it stopped working after 3.8.0-20.31).

I have the Dell XPS 13 (L322X) 1080 bios version A09 and I run it in legacy
boot mode. The back light control is working for me.
