Apparently, after taking a look, only with the Utopic based kernels.
And funny thing. I installed Utopic (which didn't work) and then Trusty (which
did) alongside it, and suddenly when the dual-boot option was present, I could
boot into both without a problem. Now I'm really confused.

This bug is not happening on my old Lenovo X230 tablet, but is present on my
brand-new X1 Carbon with faster processor

I appear to have the same problem on a new Lubuntu install. Today's
Lubuntu Utopic daily build installed correctly and will not boot for me
on a new machine. The Trusty installs and runs perfectly, but when I
upgrade the system to Utopic, it no longer boots.
