Thank you for responding. It turns out that it was not the kernel but the
file libpciaccess that caused the black screen. I withheld that update and
all worked normally.

worked okay. It is still a little laggy but usually clears up. By with
50 and 50 it's terrible. 6.8.0-49 work okay but can be a bit laggy unt
