Re-installing the nouveau and nvidia drivers didn't work for me sadly.
The problem persists.

I have Nvidia graphics and I am using the Nvidia drivers so it isn't
just a nouveau driver problem. But it may be worth re-installing the
nvidia drivers again to see if that solves the problem for me.

Thanks but unfortunately it didn't work for me either. I have just
resumed after about a 5 hour hibernation only to have no networking once
again. I have installed the updated systemd-shim from the PPA but I
haven't restarted since installing, not sure whether that makes a
difference? I'll
