If my Lenovo ThinkPad P16 is connected to thunderbolt dock during boot, it
works for few minutes but then it hangs completely, even clocks in topbar
stops, no mouse, no keyboard working, only way out is to press and hold power
button until it switches off. Time varies from
No success, the downgrade doesn't work either. Today morning, wrong
resolution after the wake up. It seems as if the monitor wakes up with
correct resolution if there is just a little period between sleep and
wake up. But when there's a longer period in between, it wakes up with
wrong resolution.
The bug is also effective on ubuntu 20.04.3 - fresh installation with all
updates. But it wasn't effective prior updating.
After downgrading xserver-xorg-legacy and xserver-xorg-core from
2:1.20.13-1ubuntu1~20.04.3 back to the version 2:1.20.13-1ubuntu1~20.04.2, the
problem seems to be gone. I'
The bug is also effective on ubuntu 20.04 (fresh installation with all
updates).

I have this issues on VMs running on ESXI hosts. Not a KVM issue.
Currently moved to HWE kernel as suggested and looks like the issue didn't
return.

Hi, I followed your instructions and installed 5.3.0-17.18+lp1846016. I
didn't see any errors during boot just blinking cursor in left upper
corner of display. However boot took probably same long time as when
there were errors and, as I wrote, screen was black with blinking cursor
