14.04 ovmf causes oops when running update-grub under kvm

I tested qemu-efi-riscv64 2024.02-2ubuntu0.1 with qemu-system-misc
1:8.2.2+ds-0ubuntu1.4 on a SiFive Hifive Premier P550 board running
Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS.
With the new version of qemu-efi-riscv64 the crash does not occur while
it is reproducible with the version 2024.02-2 it is reproducible.

For the workaround suggested by AMD you can use a configuration file in
/etc/default/grub.d/ to apply your settings. The file name must end with
