Thanks, installed kernel 4.18[0] rc3 and that seems to have fixed the
problem so far.
With regards to your question about whether it was caused by a kernel
update, I'm not sure: the computer is relatively new, and I first
noticed the issue soon after getting it. If it's helpful, the kernel
