I believe the bug was fixed with a recent update.
After doing the latest updates and rebooting, I can see the "r" now in the dash.
I noticed this about a week ago, and I have rebooted many times after updates
since then, but I didn't reboot my pc for these last couple days, which takes

Whenever I type a lowercase "r" in dash, it doesn't visually appear, not
affecting the result of the search.
I doesn't happen with any other letter but a lowercase r, I've tested it with
different graphic drivers without a change on the outcome.
