To fix the left, middle, and right buttons at the bottom of the touchpad
I put the attached file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
The important lines are
Option "ClickPad" "on"
Option "SoftButtonAreas" "60% 0 82% 0 40% 59% 82% 0"
The ClickPad is not automatically recognized and the soft-button areas
are

Hi, I have a similar problem on the same XPS 12 model.
I'm running Ubuntu 13.04 with a 3.11 kernel from saucy:
