This is really just a derivative of what has already been posted here,
but I just completed a fresh install of 16.04 from flash drive and I
thought that the exact steps I used would be useful to some people.
When you boot from the usb drive for a fresh install highlight the
"Install Ubuntu" option
I just tried an install with the 16.04.01 image and I'm seeing the same
issue.
I tried adding the nouveau.modset=0 parameter without much luck, but
it's possible I'm just setting it in the wrong way. Here is what I
tried.
1) When the install grub menu appears the default "try ubuntu..." option is
