Upon further investigation, this is an issue that the package "xserver-

working Kubuntu 22.04 installing that package only, and restarting,
causes the issue to be immediately reproducible, versus non-reproducible
without that pack
A friend of mine also just reproduced the same issue just now on Kubuntu
22.04.2 LTS (a fresh Ubuntu 22.04.2 installation with kubuntu-desktop
installed onto it, more-so) using VMWare 16.

Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.
Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.
Interesting, maybe something is triggering a controlled shutdown for some
reason then? For context, here's what I'm seeing:

Hi Jon we recently identified regressions in our kernels that breaks
WiFi, which very well could be what you are experiencing here.
We should have a new Jammy-hwe kernel 5.19.0-45.46~22.04.1 in ~proposed
on Monday which should fix this issue.
