NVIDIA drivers and it also turns out that installing an older generic kernel

- Memtest reports no errors after running a whole night
- No badblocks were found during a badblocks test

The trick is to set the boot kernel parameter "pcie_aspm=off" in
'/etc/default/grub'
Like this:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="splash pcie_aspm=off"
