If this problem only occurs after you upgrade kernel, we may be able to
identify the regression patch by bisecting kernels if a passing kernel
version is shared.

Facing this issue as well with 5.7.7 on 20.04.
Tried to use logiops and libratbag to configure the mouse better (MX
Master 3).
Right now I have two unified receiver dongles connects because I have
not taken the time to pair all devices to a single receiver. Would love
pointers on how to fix this.
Hi! 430.64-0ubuntu0~gpu14.04.3 works and I don't see any issues.

Thanks for the report! Since Trusty is no longer supported, except for
security fixes, I'll mark this LP as Won't Fix - if it reproduces in
newer Ubuntu releases, please let us know.
By the way, maybe using kernel 4.4 (HWE) has a fix for this even in Trusty.
Cheers,
Guilherme

I would like to verify any changes before moving ahead with SRU. But the
given instructions are incomplete or at least not generically usable.
Could the instructions be updated with steps that can be performed in a
generic VM.

5.5.19 looks good for me. I have home over nfs4+krb5p, so the original bug
triggers immediately after login and the DE locks up.
The problem mentioned in comment #31 is not really reproducible, I only
encountered it on the first few boots on Monday, the patched 5.4.0-40 has been
stable yesterday
