After installing everything, I rebooted to use the new kernel. I then

So i downgraded to Bios A14 and the /proc/cpuinfo now shows 0x22 as

@Christopher: perhaps. My system became somewhat convoluted while trying
to get hibernation to work somehow.
Clean test:
- disabled Secure Boot, just to be sure
- installed Xubuntu 18.04 alpha 2, most recent daily image
- updated and installed only uswsusp
- reboot

I must correct my post #77: The X200 now shows the bug, but differently.
There is no blank screen, but the last screen before hibernation is
visible. Other than that, the system is absolutely frozen as in the
other cases. So this is an example of a pre-i3 processor with the bug
being present.

mce errors since latest kernel

Hi, running 16.04 server on a Dell Poweredge T20. Since latest
meltdown/spectre Kernel update i get "mce: [Hardware Error]: Machine
check events logged" shown in the logs. This happens when the server is
compiling stuff scheduled per cron.
the mce-log shows entries like:

Can we fix this issue in Ubuntu 16.04 "linux-hwe" kernel as well? in
case, end user try to install Ubuntu 16.04.4 on their Raven+WestonXT
platform, they will run into this issue.
