Hey Joseph. Thanks for your time and quick reply. I have no problem
trying 4.14. However, this is a little outside of a standard install.
I'm running '/' on top of ZFS. I'm pretty sure ZFS isn't out yet for
4.14. So if I install that version without ZFS included, my system
won't boot.

It did not occur on previous ubuntu releases, and didn't occur during
the artful dev cycle either. It seems to be on a suspend-by-suspend
basis: after reproducing, another suspend cycle seems to "fix" it at
least some of the time.
