As we discussed, this should just be a matter of changing the package
dependency. The actual scripts support Python 3.
This assumes that the python3 package is using the alternatives system
such that /usr/bin/python will still exist on a python3-only system.

Thanks so much for the rapid turnaround on this report guys. I've
modified the tag to the verification-done-trusty, as requested. I
pulled down all the linux-image, source, and dbgsyms for the
3.13.0-97.144 kernel from proposed for installing/testing. I verified
the source code manually as well.
I was working on the assumption that the same commit was causing both
the SLAB and the remaining SLUB issues, however it turns out that
assumption was incorrect.
The commit that causes the SLAB issue is:

To replicate, 'sudo apt-get install ovmf'. During the VM setup phase you
must set 'Customize configuration before install', then change Firmware
from BIOS to UEFI.
