The proper fix seems to be to add 'copy_modules_dir kernel/ubuntu/i915'
to /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/framebuffer, then run 'update-
initramfs -k all -u'. Could you try that and boot stock -31 kernel?

I downgraded from xubuntu 15 to 12 on a Sony Vaio and not only does the
wake up after suspend work, the system is faster too. I will stick with
v12 and disable the updates.

Sorry, this model name is what I got. It doesn't have a sticker as well.
Verified with 14.04.1 + update (3.13.0-65) on 201307-13904 and 201307-14029
this issue still exist.
However it works with 14.04.3 stock image, therefore I will mark this bug as

Just to confirm, using kernel 4.2.0-16-generic, downgrading linux-
firmware to 1.148 caused the problem to reappear then upgrading it back
to 1.149 caused the problem to go away again.
So it seems this issue was caused by the Broadcom's firmware, rather
than the kernel.

I've updated the BIOS to the latest version A05. The kernel panics on
boot persist in the Ubuntu Trusty kernel. 3.13.0-66-generic still often

(v4.3-rc6-unstable) and couldn't, then went back to the current wily
kernel (4.2.0-16-generic) and still can't reproduce it.

Okay, the good news is that Wily has worked and it boots pretty reliably
-- only had a few occasions where I had to hard reboot.
Problem though, and I'm guess its because of the current status of Wily
is that a lot of the packages I am trying to use are now broken and
refuse to either install or w

manager bug, so I'm going to change this to affecting that package. The
