Similar issue here - i own a RFXTRX device which internally uses a FTDI
USB/serial converter. After update to kernel 3.13.0-65, the software
which uses the RFXTRX device ( FHEM ) stops working and hangs while
reading from it.

Hi! I've installed the 3.13.0-59 kernel below on one of the (most)
troubled machines. We should be able to see results in less than a
day or so. I will get back to you!
Thanks

This bug and bug 1501205 may be duplicates.
It sounds like this could be related to a SAUCE patch. Would it be possible
for you to test this latest kernel and post back if it resolves this bug?
See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed.
The latest Vivid kernel in the -proposed repository also has the
upstream 3.19.8-ckt7 updates.

Hi Joe,
This patch fix should be included only for Wily.
As for Trusty and Vivid, those didn't have the initial patch that broke the
32bit installation, so please do *not* back-port this patch.
When do you expect this to get in the Wily daily images so we can test?
Thank you!

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer

I'd like to see if this is a regression. Would it be possible for you to test
the Ubuntu-3.13.0-59 kernel? It can be downloaded from:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/7723132
You would need to install the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb
packages.
Thanks
