Unfortunately it seems that it haven't changed
I think i'm seeing the same problem.
Actually i'm setting up an old laptop with an old nvidia graphics card
and do not need a very minor update to the installed kernel.
So how can i stop the system trying to install new kernels?

This bug does not seem to affect Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid kernel 3.19.0-21
either. So, you may go ahead and close this bug as it seems to have been
corrected in later realseses of Ubuntu.

this looks like a bug of overlay fs, when /root only exists in underlying rofs
and not exist in upper writable layer, what will happen if remove the dir from
the combined mount?
please let me know what else I can do to narrow down this kernel bug.

Okay, fresh install of 15.04 xubuntu - right now things are working as
they should. Some update knocked out my broadcom drivers and I couldn't
work my way out of it. I'll re-update if the suspend issue reappears.

Is it possible to run diagnostics to rule out faulty hardware? This is
a laptop from 2008 and I think possible that the wireless card is
failing? I don't have access to a replacement card.

Fiddling with /proc/acpi/wakeup and kernel 4.1 seems to fix the
spontaneous wakeups on my macbook. However after a day, acpid seems to
"see" events like LID_CLOSE. Newer Ubuntu version will use systemd for
suspending so I am not sure what benefits I get from debugging this.
